January –Snowdrop

At this time of year, when you spot the first snowdrop popping out from the cold soil, it is a wonderful feeling and a sign of the return of spring.

The name “snowdrop” comes from the appearance of the flowers, which resemble drops of snow.   They are native to Europe and Asia and are one of the first flowers to bloom in the spring, often pushing their way up through the snow.

In Celtic Lore, these graceful blooms are often associated with Brigid, the Celtic goddess of spring, fertility, and healing. The appearance of snowdrops was seen as a sign of Brigid’s blessing, offering protection and hope as the harsh winter gave way to the rejuvenating season of spring.

What  will you rejuvenate with Snowdrop?
