Book – A Checklist of American Coverlet Weavers

Compiled for the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Center, this checklist of American Coverlet Weavers, which addresses only the weavers of figured (jacquard) coverlets) is an indispensable reference in the library of any collector of American woven coverlets. Coverlets woven by professional weavers between 1825 and 1875 provide an intriguing visual record of the interplay of folk motifs, such as animals, birds, flowers, sunbursts, to name a few. The artistry varies according to each maker’s feeling for design, color and scale. These coverlets and the professionals who wove them are the subjects of this book
